I Will See You Again

A special rainbow picture taken by a friend who came through the line during Dad's Visitation service at Grace Bible Chapel on Feb 11, 2009. She snapped it on her phone before she came in. Quite a few friends came through the line and told me they had seen a rainbow right over the church.
My friend sent this picture to me weeks later saying that she had been stunned by it.
It doesn't look like much except that...
It wasn't raining.
It didn't rain at all.
But God sent a rainbow.
I have always taken it as a message from God that Dad was okay, that he was more than okay.
He was in the presence of Jesus.
Amazing.

On this the 5th anniversary of Dad's Home-Going, I wanted to share this with you. I wanted to be sure and upload this pic to this place so that I could always remember it.

I miss you Dad, and sometimes I feel my heart is breaking. But I stay strong and I hold on 'cause I know...
I will see you again, this is not where it ends. I will carry you with me till I see you again.
This song says it all...

I Love "Tollman"

It's time for the 3rd Annual Tollman Classic Jack Krummel Memorial Golf Tournament.

When I talk about the event, one of the most often asked questions is:

What is a "Tollman"?

My Dad's full name was John Edward Krummel but he had a few nick names. "Jackie" when he was a boy, "Jack" to everyone most of his life.  "Papa" to the grand kids.

But there was one nick name that he gave himself and he used it in his email address and other electronic code names or "handles".

It was "Tollman".

The name comes from his life long career with the state of Maryland.
My Dad worked as a young man on the maintenance crew on Interstate 95.
He drove a big plow in the winter and kept the highway clear. I can remember that he was never home if it snowed. Mom worried about him out there in the storms.
After many faithful years working in maintenance he moved up the ranks, and finally  advanced to

Chief Administrator of Kennedy Highway and all Maryland Toll Facilities,
hence the nick name.
In total, he worked for the State of Maryland for 35 years.

My Dad's licence plate read "TOLLMAN". After he passed away my youngest brother had the tags transferred so that he could have them on his Mustang.

Every year on tournament day he takes them off his car and puts them on his golf cart.

What is a "Tollman"?
A loving and dedicated husband and father, an affectionate granddad, a commited father-in-law.

A business man, a best friend, a family man, a fixer, a helper, a giver, a kisser of boo-boos.

A chocolate lover, a sports fanatic, a grandchild super supporter.

A godly man, a singer of gospel music, a darn good golfer.

I love Tollman, and I miss him everyday.
